The Devil's Clothes
The Devil's Cloth in Present
This was a branding practice I did when I was in the university. Stripes have been using in clothing for hundreds of years and it's still so popular these days. I was fascinated by this simple pattern and how complicated the meaning of it can be read.
In the Medieval times, it was seen as Devil's design, wearing stripes was a perilous act, only prisoners, criminals, clowns, prostitutes, hangmen etc would wear. Not until 16th century that things started to change.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the new definition of stripes was created and became the main stream. Marine for instance, due to its highly distinguishable the stripes have the functional purpose as well. I started to think what's the definition can stripes be nowadays.

I redesigned the pattern from my stripes shirt. I dropped the shirt on floor just to see how the pattern goes. | Those random pattern and twisted lines reminded me the ripples on sea during sunset. Quickly disappeared in the dark but that's what makes it beautiful. Stripes have stood the test of time, I want to keep it at its beautiful moment and leave the definition to whoever wears it.
Looking for neutral shapes. Stripes to me is genderless and suitable for everyone at every ages. I placed the twisted stripes on to where is always easily wrinkled when someone wears a stripes shirt.
