Only Elephants Can Wear Ivory

WARNING
Only Elephants Can Wear Ivory

I accidentally found an article talking about the illegal acts of hunting animals including ivory hunting and safari.

I was rather confused and furious. I wondered why would people kill animals for fun and even worse is that there are several big systems support this act and just all driven by desires toward money and power.

Swatches, Inspiration images, Initial design drawings I looked at those elephants and hunters, thinking if it's a fair fight but it never will be. Trunks versus bullets, the result is obvious.

Collages and Pink Dye At this point, an animation by Ghibli popped up in my mind, Princess Mononoke. The story is about the princess trying to find the balance between human race and the nature. I think if humans are really smart enough then we should know that we have the power and responsibilities to protect the nature instead of taking it for granted or abuse. The nature never need human race after all but we need the nature.

Either pink dye or blood mark on elephants faces. The karate trouser represents armless fights. Some people suggested a solution called "Pink Dye" which is to protect elephants from hunted. The idea is to apply harmless paint onto the animals and the tusk will become no value to market at all but it turns out is not a realistic solution.

I want to bring the princess' spirit and character into this project and remind people that we should be more respectful to the nature.
